Choose the best indoor plants to brighten any commercial space. The start of a new year is just around the corner and it is a great time to reinvigorate any commercial space. Ideally for the benefit and enjoyment of everybody on the team. Sprucing things up doesn’t mean having to renovate the entire building. Subtle changes in terms of decor and design can breathe brand new life into the workspace without having to spend an arm and a leg. Introducing new indoor plants is an excellent way to do so and will be especially striking if you haven’t had any in the space previously.
Here are some options to kick things off on a high.
Creating an Indoor Tropical Paradise
Creating your own indoor tropical paradise of sorts not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the office, but also brings with it a share of health benefits too. Plants are known for improving the surrounding air quality, mostly by actively removing harmful pollutants. Adding indoor plants into a room is also a great way to stabilise humidity levels, which can be vastly different from one season to the next. Before picking the perfect plant types, think about the practical needs of the space depending where you are, and go from there.
Chinese Evergreen
Chinese Evergreen plants are highly popular in offices all over South Africa. More formally known as Aglaonema ‘Silver Bay‘, these large, luscious plants are incredibly versatile with some of the most striking leaves to boot. Originating in the US, this plant is very robust and can grow to as much as 75cm tall. Expect alternating tones of green and grey as it expands and creates what some experts refer to as a work of art in and of itself. If you’re choosing a first plant to introduce into your office space, you can’t go wrong with a couple of Chinese Evergreens.
Heartleaf Philodendron
For an indoor plant as striking as a wedding table centrepiece, try the Philodendron scandens. More commonly referred to as the Heartleaf Philodendron, this fast-growing climber plant has — as its name suggests — heart shaped glossy green leaves that blend in well with neutral surroundings. With origins in Central America, this plant thrives in low, medium and high light conditions and is easier to maintain than its exterior might suggest. It gets a yes from the ExecuFlora team, through and through.
Wildcard: ZZ Plant
With two standard, reliable office plants in the bag, we’ve also got something a little bit out-of-the-box for you right here. The Zamioculcas zamiifolia (affectionately called the ZZ Plant) is characterised by spectacular stems with shiny, dark green foliage. Its leaves will have anybody thinking about the crowns worn by Greek Gods. These plants offer the same sturdy consistency as offered by the others on the list. You can’t go wrong by trying one or more of these, perhaps even in combination with the Heartleaf or Chinese Evergreen plants. You’ll reinvigorate not only the office, but the mindsets of the team members working there every day too. Happy sprucing up the space!
